We’ll let you in on a little secret – we have a real weakness for ice-cream. Like, put a pint of the good stuff in front of us (chocolate flavour will do) and it will not last the night. It’s a love-hate relationship though. We’re oh-so fond of ice-cream but the reality is all that sugar, dairy and cream mixed together is not great for gut health and does zero to help our summer bods. Well, we might have found a solution – Rice Cream. There’s Chai Spice (flavoured with an organic chai spice blend), Vanilla (organic vanilla-bean extract), Raw Cacao and Cacao Mint (organic raw cacao and organic peppermint oil). Not only will you be curbing your ice-cream craving in the most delicious gut-friendly way, you’re also throwing your pennies toward a local business giving it a red-hot go. Cool, eh? Head onlineto find your closest stockist.

At the QT Port Douglas, in the popular Queensland resort that is a jumping off point for the Great Barrier Reef, rooms can cost more than $400 per night in the high season. One guest summed up the experience. "All I can say is stay away. QT need to have a serious look at this place. We spent the rest of our (stay) outside of the resort."

"Forgiveness is swallowing when you would rather spit," the sign reads outside the Surfers Paradise Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit, on Salerno Street at the Isle of Capri. Church signs have been used before in Australia to post controversial messages, with the Gosford Anglican church in New South Wales famed for its highly political messages.
However, it's not clear if the Surfers Paradise church was aware of the questionable meaning behind its well-intentioned sign. It’s even got its own day on the international calendar. That’s right, this Saturday June 9 is World Gin Day. In honour of one of our favourite spirits, we got the low-down from a bunch of the Gold Coast establishments to see what they were shaking and muddling in the gin department. As delightful as it is, we’ve taken a step beyond the stock-standard gin and tonic to give you a list of some of the city’s best gin-based cocktails for you to sip on. ‘Tis Rhubarb at The Collective: This gin-based champagne cocktail is a vibrant treat with sweet vermouth, housemade rhubarb and coriander seed syrup served with a float of champagne sorbet – tastes even better when it’s sipped on the rooftop at sunset.
The Undead Merman at Aloha Bar & Dining: Kick off your gin journey with an unsuspecting kick of sour – this fun tipple sees two gins mixed with maraschino and violette liqueurs, falernum lime and dragon fruit, all served in a tall tiki glass. From Doughnut buns to 900gm patties, Coast eateries will try anything to make sure their creation is literally the flavour of the month. The new burger is a Wagyu beef patty, crispy maple smoked bacon, beer battered onion rings, double American cheese, caramelised onion, peanut butter, satay sauce, raspberry and sweet chilli jam and garlic aioli, all on a milk bun.

No, we definitely did not. Sure, 24 nuggets for $10 is cute, but if you’re a lean, mean, nug life machine, you know damn well that you’re going to need more than 24 to fill the chook sized void in your soul. Ye of little faith if you thought it couldn’t get even better. A whopping choice of 10 sauces will be ready for the ripping and dipping, including tangy BBQ, nori and miso mayo, and of course your classic bae’s – tomato and sweet and sour sauce.

After just a few short weeks, the iconic Broadbeach space has been completely transformed into a European-style cafe and dining space called GG’s Eatery & Bar. Think loaded croissants and coffee in the sunshine by day, and crisp pizzas and negronis by night.
Great news, Gold Coast! The forecast is for sunny skies with nothing but good times ahead. This weekend is a dream for live-music lovers but as always, there’s plenty for families, market goers, foodies, party people and everyone in between. Here’s our pick of top things to do on the Gold Coast this weekend.
